Lily has a flu bug. I am not sure how she got it though. Her pediatrician said she has to be on a pedialyte ONLY diet. No formula, no solid foods, and no NURSING for 24 hours. It has been less than 2 hours and already very difficult. As soon as we got home she wanted to nurse and I had to deny her. I tried giving her pedialyte, she took a couple drinks and was done. It took about 15 minutes to rock her to sleep. She fell asleep with a deep sob. I felt so bad for her. This is going to be a long 24 hours because nursing is ALL she wants to do. I just hope this pedialyte only works.

Aw, poor Lily! I remember Zack got that once and it IS hard not to nurse. But hang in there and it will be over in no time.

BTW, we'd love to meet you guys at the park. Just let me know when. :D

Wow, i've never heard of not allowing a baby to nurse because of sickness. Breastmilk is full of electrolites and vitamins. You should def. pump thruout the day so you dont get engorged and get sick yourself!

Pedialyte only? Why can't she nurse? That would be so rough! I know that when I'm sick even though I have a really reduced appetite I still get a little hungry! Poor girl! And Mommy!

I hope she gets better soon. It sucks when someone as innocent as a child, and especially a precious child like Lily, gets sick. It seems like as adults we kind of deserve it for all the bad stuff we get into, not washing our hands, not cleaning like we should. But Lily, on the other hand, doesn't deserve to get sick, and I really hope she gets better soon.

I thought the no nursing was weird too. Her ped said the pedialyte only diet would flush her system, getting rid of the bug. I pumped a couple times and nursed her after about 27 hrs w/out the ok from the doc. I try to be careful with the germs, she isn't at daycare so I really don't get how she got sick. It has been hard but we are getting through it and Lily is such a trooper!
