Thankful Thursday 3

Thankful Thursday

I was really racking my brain about what I wanted to do for Thankful Thursday. Different ideas came popping in my head but, I couldn't think of anything worth posting. Everything I kept thinking of just seemed so trivial. Until, I left work today.

Here is the story about a wonderful act that I observed today. I left the school I subbed at and headed to the gas station before I picked up Little Lily. As I pulled into the gas station I saw a person standing at the corner holding one of those cardboard signs. I didn't read what it said. They usually all say the same thing. In the past I would just look at them, think, why don't they spend their time going to look for a job rather then stand there and hold a sign. But, in this day, with the economy the way it is and the lack of jobs and sky rocketing unemployement rates, those people who didn't have jobs can't just go look for a job. People are continually getting laid off so there are more and more people that are holding signs, begging for help on the side of the road. My thoughts for those people are a little different now-a-days. Ok so back to this particular individual I saw today. As I was noticing this person I found myself observing the hat this person was wearing and the very colorful coat. I also noticed how I couldn't tell if the person was a boy or a girl. I often times wonder about the situations these people are in. What happened in their life to get them where they are? I never think about giving money to them because I never really have to cash to give them. I did; however, with some friends one time go get a burger for someone and they were not appreciative at all, accused us of spitting in it and through the burger in the street. But anyways, I pulled in, began pumping my gas, finished and got back into my car. As I was driving out I noticed this sign holder was standing with another person, a woman. What I noticed was that these two people were PRAYING together, hands held and heads bowed. Oh it just melted my heart! What an inspirational thing. I then began feeling like a jerk because I thought how I never help those people and usually make observations on their appearance and yes, I wonder about their life situation and have prayed myself for many sign holders as I drive by, but this woman actually pulled in the parking lot, got out of her car, and prayed with this person, held the hands of this person. I am thankful for that woman. I am thankful for God's desire to bring help to those sign holders in need. I am thankful that God thinks of all His children, especially His children that are desperately calling for help on the side of the road.

This week I am thankful for a complete stranger that I saw make a difference! I admire this lady!
